Q: What inspired your donation to Wright University?

Wright University's Mission! I am a huge proponent of education in general, but particularly for people who have been historically marginalized and may not have had the opportunity to fulfill their academic goals and desires.

Q: What would you say to others thinking of giving to WU?

To be blunt, put your money where your mouth is! I recognize not everyone has the monetary resources to donate to an organization (which is understandable, particularly during a pandemic), but I have a low tolerance for people who continually speak to what they believe to be true and do nothing to support it.

Q: The word “inclusive” is used often as academia evolves; what does inclusive education mean to you?

To me, inclusive means a sense of belonging and connection, not just in education or the workplace, but also in life itself. It is critical to embrace people's full authentic selves since we are all at our best when we are allowed to truly be our own selves, surrounded by others who are allowed to do the same. In an education environment I think that it is crucial that students feel valued for their differences; they should see themselves reflected in the administration, faculty and their fellow peers of the institution they are attending.

Q: What is your favorite locally-owned Seattle stop?

I have quite a few "favorites" so I can't name just one! I have become much more intentional about supporting local businesses owned by women, people of color, veterans, LGBTQ+ people, and people with disabilities. It can sometimes be challenging to find businesses that fit these criteria if you don't hear about them by word of mouth, but last year I discovered Intentionalist on social media. It has changed my world! I have now ventured out of my Seattle bubble and discovered businesses throughout King County!

Q: Is there anything else that you'd like to share?

It is a great privilege and honor to help support the vision and mission of Wright University! I am excited to have the opportunity to be on the forefront of its journey toward assisting students in achieving excellence, not only academically, but in life.
